February 22, 2005 PTO Meeting Minutes
PTO President Lisa Ridenour called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. Members in attendance were Lisa Ridenour, Missy McCallen, Cassie DeJarnette, Lynda Marcoux, Lori Gupton, Nan Shugart, Pam Wyatt, Sonya Parker and Kim Brinkman.
PrincipalÕs report Ð Missy McCallen reported for Mrs. Goins.
- The school board will visit in the morning. They will take a tour of the building and talk with teachers and students.
- TCAPs are in April. The ÒIncrediblesÓ will be the theme of the TCAP assembly.
- Reading Month Ð The theme of this yearÕs reading month is ÒWild About ReadingÓ. The Knoxville Zoo will be bringing some animals to visit each grade at the end of reading month. The topic for each grade will correlate with what they are learning in class. Missy McCallen asked for funds to pay for the zoo visit and for treats for the trivia questions for each class. A motion was made by Lori Gupton to give the money and it was seconded by Kim Brinkman. The motion was passed unanimously.
January 2005 Minutes -The January PTO meeting minutes were distributed for review. Cassie DeJarnette moved that the minutes be accepted. The motion was seconded by Kim Brinkman and was passed unanimously.
TreasurerÕs Report - The January TreasurerÕs Report was distributed. The report was reviewed and Nan Shugart moved that the report be accepted. The motion was seconded by Sonya Parker and was passed unanimously.
Teacher Request - Mrs. Beaty made a request for 2 ink cartridges for printers to be purchased for her room. The request was not approved because the school does provide those periodically and the PTO could not afford to buy each teacher cartridges.
WendyÕs Night - The 1st Monday of every month will be Glenwood night at WendyÕs. Glenwood will receive 20% of the profits. You must present the flyer to the cashier in order for Glenwood to receive the 20%.
Committee Reports
Book Fair - There was a $500 profit from the last book fair. It was suggested that we use that money to help pay for the year books. Pam Wyatt made a motion to accept this. The motion was seconded by Cassie DeJarnette. The motion was passed unanimously.
Box Tops for Education Ð Melanie Braden wasnÕt present.
Yearbook Ð Rebecca Birmingham wasnÕt present.
GrandparentÕs Day Ð GrandparentÕs Day will be on March 11. The invitations went home today. Tickets for lunch will be sold that morning when they come in.
Spring Picnic Ð The Spring Picnic will be held on Thursday, May 13 from 5:00 Ð 8:00. The rain date will by May 19.
Cubs on Track Ð Cubs on Track will also be on May 13. They still need volunteers. The kick-off assembly will be on May 2. Each child that brings in any money will receive a free WendyÕs kidÕs meal and a ribbon. Every $10.00 will get a free ticket for the spring picnic. Some of the prizes are: be a teacher for a day, ride to school in a police car or fire truck.
Thank you - Lori Gupton would like to thank everyone for all the items they have donated to the clinic. She got all the items that she needed. Thanks Glenwood Parents.
